Updates from the box….

  • WV State CrossFit Championship- Congratulations to those of you that registered and completed all 4 of the WV CrossFit State Championship online WODS. The winner of the free month at CFH is Scott Stephens. Congratulations to each one of you who gave it a shot and to those who have qualified to advance to the onsite competition that will be held next Saturday August 27 at CrossFit Huntington. If you received an invitation to the onsite you only have until Friday August 19 at 11:59pm to register
  • Volunteer list- Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help us with the onsite championship next weekend. Our list is now complete so we will not be able to accept any more volunteers for Saturday at this time. I have everyone’s t-shirt sizes and you have been added to the volunteer page on Facebook. Please check this frequently in the next week as this is where we will be adding announcements and posting your assignments. We still will also need volunteers for the week leading up to the onsite to help with some minor cleaning and repairs around the box. We appreciate any help you can offer during this week. It’s time to show the state of WV why CFH is so special!
  • Our next Foundations group starts Monday August 29. We will be continuing with our “Back to School” special. For those signing up for foundations during this session, if they bring in school supplies for a donation, the $50.00 foundation fee will not apply. The class will be FREE with the donation!!! So tell your friends and family who are interested in giving CrossFit a try that now is the time! Don’t forget, each time you refer someone new and they sign up for a permanent membership, we reduce your next draft by $25.00.

Tough Mudders- CFH has put together a team to participate in the Tough Mudder ½ in Pittsburg on September 10th. Our start time selected is 11:00am. You can register at https://toughmudder.com. Choose the Pittsburg ½ event. Once you have registered and paid for the event you can choose to transfer to a team. Our team name is CrossFit Huntington and the password to use is CrossFit. We have around 15 people registered so far. We participated in a similar event a few years back and it truly is a blast! We welcome anyone interested to consider joining us!

T-shirts and Tanks- Order arrived yesterday. We currently have plenty of sizes. Cost for all T’s and tanks is $25.00.

Marshall Marathon- The annual Marshall University Marathon will be held this year on Sunday November 6th. We began a 12 week program to train for this that started on Monday August 1. The 12 week session will consist of interval training on Monday and Thursday during run club times and an additional optional run on Sundays. If you are unable to attend run club during these times, I just ask that you make up each session you miss on your own each week. It will be important that you follow this schedule if you want to stay on track and be ready for this ½ Marathon event. I encourage each of you, whether you have completed a half Marathon event or not, to give this a shot. Mark it off of your bucket list for 2016! See Amy if you have any questions. I would love to see a big team from CFH participate and show our support for The Herd and for our city. The link to register is http://marshalluniversitymarathon.com/registrationpacket-pickup/register/. Cost is $80.00.

2016 Path to the Cure/Colors for a Cure 5K run/walk- For 2016 these two races have joined together to host 1 event that will be held on Sunday October 9 beginning at Pullman Square in downtown Huntington. CrossFit Huntington has put together a team for the past 2 years and I would like to be able to support this event again this year. In the past we have had close to 50 people sign up to help support this great cause. I will post more details with a link to register soon. Mark Oct 9th on your calendar!

And finally…”It’s not how you start the race, or where you are during the race, it is how you cross the finish line that will matter.” Robert D. Hales

Amy, Jeff & the rest of the CFH Team!
