Updates from the box….

  • WV State CrossFit Championship- Thank you again to all of our participants, volunteers, coaches and friends who stepped up and spent a long HOT day with us last Saturday. I cannot say enough about how much this community means to Jeff and I. At the end of a long 14 hour day I stopped to see where to begin with clean up and you all had already stepped up and had it almost done. You braved the early to late hours, heat, lack of air conditioning, standing on your feet, dealing with scoring issues and many other things to stand together and make this the best WV CrossFit State Championship ever. We had numerous compliments and positive feedback that made the long hours leading up to the event and the long day we had Saturday all worth it. Thank you 1,000 times over for everything.
  • WV State CrossFit Championship Winners!- First of all, each one of you who stepped up to compete in both the online and the onsite are WINNERS in our eyes at CFH. It is not easy to take that step to decide to compete, especially in a field as tough at the State Competition. We are proud of all of you for taking this chance and deciding to compete. An extra shout out to those of you who qualified to compete onsite and to those who ended up on the podium at the end. Alexis Jones and Amelia Greider- you ladies both rocked it! What a tough field in the women’s open to go up against and you both proved to not only us, but yourselves that you can do it! JW Beals, Nate Williams and Tom….wow! The three of you killed the men’s open division and kept us on our toes watching you compete in every event. Proud of all of you and your finishes in the toughest field out there. Della… to my friend who inspires so many. I know it was a HUGE step to take but you did it and proved to us all that you are OUR champion. PR’s everywhere for you that day! And finally Troy...our Masters 50+ champion. Only you can train 7 days a week, 3 times a day and still be strong, fast and injury free. You my brother, are my super hero and I couldn’t be more proud of you. You are and always will be 1st place to me!
  • Our next Foundations group starts Monday Sept. 12 -Please remember to tell your friends and family about CFH. Our best referrals come from each of you. Don’t forget, each time you refer someone new and they sign up for a permanent membership, we reduce your next draft by $25.00.

Tough Mudders- Next weekend Sept 10, Team CrossFit Huntington will participate in the Tough Mudder ½ in Pittsburg. We have around 15 people registered for our team. It’s not too late to join us for this “dirty” event! Lots of fun times to come along with a little late birthday celebration for Della!

T-shirts and Tanks- We currently have plenty of sizes. Cost for all T’s and tanks is $25.00. See a coach to purchase one today.

Marshall Marathon- The annual Marshall University Marathon will be held this year on Sunday November 6th. We began a 12 week program to train for this that started on Monday August 1. It is not too late to join us now. We perform interval training on Monday and Thursday during run club times and an additional optional run on Sundays. If you are unable to attend run club during these times, I just ask that you make up each session you miss on your own each week. It will be important that you follow this schedule if you want to stay on track and be ready for this ½ Marathon event. I encourage each of you, whether you have completed a half Marathon event or not, to give this a shot. Mark it off of your bucket list for 2016! See Amy if you have any questions. I would love to see a big team from CFH participate and show our support for The Herd and for our city. The link to register is http://marshalluniversitymarathon.com/registrationpacket-pickup/register/. Cost is $80.00.

2016 Path to the Cure/Colors for a Cure 5K run/walk- For 2016 these two races have joined together to host 1 event that will be held on Sunday October 9 beginning at Pullman Square in downtown Huntington. CrossFit Huntington has put together a team for the past 2 years and I would like to be able to support this event again this year. In the past we have had close to 50 people sign up to help support this great cause. I will post more details with a link to register soon. Mark Oct 9th on your calendar!

CrossFit Huntington’s Annual Civil War!- This one is for ALL of you. With the State Championships behind us it is time for ALL of our members to get together for a day of competition, fun, food and family. No matter how long you have been Crossfitting, this day is one that you will never forget. Mark your calendars for Saturday Oct 1 and be a part of the fun. We will post a signup sheet on the white board this week. This is a free event and we encourage everyone who can to participate. Please sign up as soon as possible so we can start assigning teams by the middle of Sept. Once team assignments are released, get together with your team, come up with a name and start to strategize on how your team can claim the title of CFH Civil War Champs for 2016.

And finally….”Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; who accept you for who you are. The one’s who would do anything to make you smile and who love you no matter what.”

Much love,

Amy, Jeff & the rest of the CFH Team!
