Updates from the box….
WV State Championship Open Registration- We are quickly approaching the deadline set to register for this event. Remember, if you register and complete all 4 of the online workouts, we will enter your name into a drawing to win a free month’s membership at CFH. Thank you to all who have registered so far. The link to sign up is:
https://www.competitioncorner.net/events/136#.Vo_g5ctIgpG . This year’s State Championship online and onsite will both be hosted by CFH. The State Championship is the best competition to see where you rank in within our state. All participants must live and train in the state of WV. We already have several boxes representing so far. Cost to participate in the Open online qualifier is $25.00. WOD 1 has been released so far. If you are on the fence at all about registering, log onto Facebook and read the post written by Ashley Deal. She asked permission to share her story relating to her participation in last year’s WV open. If this doesn’t get you excited and inspired, nothing will!
Our next Foundations group starts Monday August 1. We will be rolling out a “Back to School” special soon so tell your friends and family to watch for this. Don’t forget, each time you refer someone new and they sign up for a permanent membership, we reduce your next draft by $25.00.
Tough Mudders- CFH has put together a team to participate in the Tough Mudder ½ in Pittsburg on September 10th. Our start time selected is 11:00am. You can register at https://toughmudder.com. Choose the Pittsburg ½ event. Once you have registered and paid for the event you can choose to transfer to a team. Our team name is CrossFit Huntington and the password to use is CrossFit. We have around 15 people registered so far. We participated in a similar event a few years back and it truly is a blast! We welcome anyone interested to consider joining us!
WV Strong- Thank you to all who participated in the WOD, made a donation or purchased a t-shirt to help support the flood victims in our state. The fund raiser total came to $12, 010.00. This was in t-shirts and donations alone. The Coalfield War games and a few gyms made additional donations as well so this total will be even higher. They will begin to distribute the funds in the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all at CFH and to the CrossFit Community as well. This is what coming together is all about.
Protein just arrived! We received a new shipment on Thursday July 21. We have various flavors including Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Rocky Road and Cookies and Cream. Please see a coach if you wish to purchase. You can pay through your honor charges by adding it to the sheet on top of the cooler. We also have Glutamine and Uplift available if you are interested in trying these products.
T-shirts and Tanks- Thank you for bearing with us on our low supply of shirts lately. We have a design ready to order at the beginning of next week. We will be purchasing ladies and men’s t-shirts as well as ladies tanks. The company sent in some sample sizes of the tanks for us to try if you would like to do that and get back to Amy or Jeff so we will know approximately how many of each to order. This is not a pre-order sale! We just wanted to get an idea on tank sizing from this company.
Marshall Marathon- The annual Marshall University Marathon will be held this year on Sunday November 6th. We will begin a 12 week program to train for this starting on Monday August 1 @6pm. The 12 week session will consist of interval training on Monday and Thursday during run club times and an additional optional run on Sundays. If you are unable to attend run club during these times, I just ask that you make up each session you miss on your own each week. It will be important that you follow this schedule if you want to stay on track and be ready for this ½ Marathon event. I encourage each of you, whether you have completed a half Marathon event or not, to give this a shot. Mark it off of your bucket list for 2016! See Amy if you have any questions. I would love to see a big team from CFH participate and show our support for The Herd and for our city.
Final thoughts…Pray for our country. I often keep to myself but lately the events surrounding all of us have hit so close to home. We have police officers, firefighters, first responders and military who are all part of our CFH family as well as each one of you reading this. If we all stick together and pray I truly believe that we will be taken care of and our country that we love so much can become one again. Much love to each one of you!
Amy, Jeff & the rest of the CFH Team!
